Artist Lidia Cao
Lidia Cao (b. 1997), is an artist from Galicia, Spain. From a young age, Lidia was interested in drawing, particularly the study of human figures and portraiture. Her paintings mainly feature women. Despite their delicate expression, they exude great strength, fortitude, and tenacity, which Lidia defines as feminism.
She loves creating volume through simple lines, playing with different textures. Her palette is mostly monochromatic, also using desaturated and low strident colors. She has participated in several muralism festivals such as desOrdes Creativas (Ordes, Spain), Muro Crítico (Cáceres, Spain), VICC (Vigo, Spain) o Urbanidades do Eixo (Aveiro, Portugal). She currently works as a freelance illustrator and mural artist.
“I feel at ease drawing female portraits. They were always a source of inspiration. For me, the female figure is synonymous with life. With my compositions, I hope to tell a story about each of them.” – Lidia Cao.
Every dreamlike composition is created with monochromatic palettes and clean lines that, while decorative, constitute a semiotic system of expression. Lidia’s heroines are distinct with each painting paying homage to their respective stories, acting as a psychological profile with thinly veiled dramaturgy.
